Delaney Named New North Reading Selectmen Chairman

The Board of Selectmen reorganized Thursday night.

Sean Delaney is the new chairman of the North Reading Board of Seletmen after a reorganization Thursday night. Bob Mauceri, the former chairman, will be the new vice chairman and Joe Foti will be the new clerk. Mauceri made the motion for Delaney to be the new chairman. Having experience as the vice chairman, Delaney is ready for the position, he said. Delaney praised Mauceri and said the outgoing chairman has done a tremendous job. Mauceri has put a large amount of time and energy into the board, Delaney said. He went on to say that if he can do half as well as Mauceri, the board will be okay. "I have big shoes to fill," Delaney said of his new position. He will look to Mauceri to mentor him and is happy that Mauceri will be the vice …

North Reading Selectman Candidate Profile: Joe Foti

Joe Foti will run for the Board of Selectmen in May.

This is the second in a series of articles profiling the candidates running for North Reading Board of Selectmen. Joe Foti works as the Director of Public Works (DPW) for the city of Chelsea. He also has experience as a water superintendent and DPW director of operations. He is a member of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) Board of Directors, chairman of the North Reading Water Commission and on the Board of Directors of North Reading softball and basketball. He has also served as a member of the town's Fiscal Advisory Committee. The Board of Selectmen met on Monday at Town Hall.

The Board of Selectmen met on Monday evening at Town Hall. Here are five things you need to know about the meeting: 1. Appointment of election workers. Town Clerk Barbara Stats provided the selectmen with a list of recommendations for election workers, including both current and new workers. The board voted to appoint the workers the list suggested.  2. One Stop Liquors location. One Stop Liquors located on Main Street is planning to move to a new location. The liquor store will relocate from unit 10 to unit 2 in the Stop & Shop plaza. The foot print of the door might have been the same, but the doors swung open. The current doors are bifold, which cause a smaller walk through area becasue the doors are taking up some of the walking space. The Shaw's former design was such that two people could pass each other, the Stop & Shop current design allows only on the pass at a time.
