Share Your Holiday Pet Photos

Upload your photo here to share your cute getups with your Reading and North Reading neighbors.

Sure, Halloween offers a limitless variety of costume ideas for your dog or cat (or teacup pig?), but nothing that offers the cuteness of a Christmas tree, a Santa hat and a string of multi-colored lights. Did you make your pet sit, uncomfortable and annoyed for a few minutes while you took photos for a greeting card or just for fun? Share your photos here with the rest of Reading and North Reading and comment below on your favorites.

Handsome Maine Coon Mix Has Penchant for Snuggling

Connor is waiting for you at PAWS.

The following was submitted by PAWS: I may look a bit self-satisfied in my photos, but that is just my catitude. If you ask my foster, she will tell you I am a love-muffin. Ask me, and I will tell you I am an independent, smart, healthy, young Maine coon mix who loves warm laps, tasty food, and catnip toys.  Topmost on my list of favorite things is snuggling. When my foster mom walks into the room, I go over and rub her ankles. I used to wait for her to pick me up because I was a little shy, but now, I just jump right on her lap where I could nap for hours. Believe it or not, given the choice, I would rather cuddle than eat. Settling down on my favorite recliner, where I can purr and nuzzle my foster mom to my heart’s content—now that’s …

Friendly, Sweet Guy Seeks Love and Affection

Stuart is waiting for you at PAWS.

Let me introduce myself.  I’m Stuart and I’m a real lap cat.  There is nowhere I would rather be than sitting in your lap and nothing I would like better than being pet.  I promise that I am not one of those felines that will tease you with a quick visit, jumping off the minute things don’t go my way.  If you like to cuddle, I would be your dream feline since I will roll over for you.  Can you be sure to give me some belly rubs while you are at it?  If you look at my picture, you will see that I have a really beautiful and touchable tummy. I hope you can tell that I am a people guy.  I am going to wait in the window for you to come home from work and I will greet you at the door.  I will put my paws on your shoulders to look at you eye-to-…

Affectionate Carberry is Waiting For You At Paws

Carberry is a young, beautiful and super affectionate Tabby cat.

My name is Carberry and I am a laid-back, young adult with simple needs.  I am 14 pounds and all brawn, so hopefully I can fit on your lap.  If not, I would be happy to just hang out with you—the closer the better.  And, if you will brush me, I will follow you anywhere.  I absolutely adore being brushed.  In fact, if you are not brushing me, I will come and nuzzle you as a reminder.  I am just a guy who likes his simple pleasures and that is one of them for me. I am cool with other cats and dogs, but I would prefer that other feline friends are as gentle and welcoming as I am.  However, I would also be just fine as your one and only as long as you have time to spend with me.  Maybe we could have a dinner date?  You should know that I’ll …

Luther Is All Puppy and Ready to Please

Luther is waiting for you at Paws.

If you are looking at my picture, you already know I am very, very handsome, so let’s not waste time on that. I am impatient to tell you instead how much I want to go home with you. I am very people-friendly so I already know that I like you a lot. And I am also extremely eager to please, especially if there is a treat involved. I already know how to “sit” and “wait.” Well, I am not so good at “waiting.” I try very hard to follow that command. For example, I cannot wait to find a new home! My name is Luther and I am about a year old, if that. I wandered up onto someone’s porch a few weeks ago. I am big and strong, so I got away from my companion and got lost somewhere near the Stone Zoo. I was lucky to find PAWS because it is a rough world…

Kobe Is Waiting For You at Paws

Kobe is a Snowshoe mix, but prefers a warm house to cross-country skiing.

My name is Kobe and I am a Snowshoe mix. That doesn’t mean I like winter sports. On the contrary, I am a stay-at-home kind of guy. I want to be inside where it is cozy and warm and where I can be with my favorite animal: humans. You should be warned that I like to keep my humans close by.  Wherever you go in your house, I will be following you around.  I also love to play, either with you, or by myself. When we are done playing, I like to be brushed and have my head scratched. They say I have the cutest meow, but I don’t use it to be cute. I use it to let you know I want to eat if you are late serving my meal. When dinner is over, I would love to crawl into your lap. I am a big cat however, so if this does not work for you, perhaps we can …

What a gorgeous cat! Looks a bit like a Siamese. If I didn't already have a devoted cat already, he'd be ours. Good luck, Kobe.   more ›

Shadow Could Be Your Valentine

Shadow is waiting for you at Paws.

Chocolates are nice on Valentine’s Day, but we think Shadow the German shepherd mix says I love you even better. She is 10 years young, with a special personality that caught everyone’s attention right from the start. When Shadow arrived, she had some serious dental needs (and was most likely in pain). But her friendly nature and desire to be friends with everyone she met made it clear to all involved that this girl deserved a chance at a life with a new family. With the generous financial help from Poundhounds.org, Shadow received expert and loving care at the VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital. She is now ready to find a home in which to enjoy her golden years. We emphasize “enjoy” here, because Shadow has a real zest for life.  She adores …

Molly Returned Home

Missing dog Molly is happily back with her family.

Molly, the 12-year-old hound/beagle mix who was missing this week, is happily back with her family today. Stephanie Batchelder Smith has had Molly for 12 years, and was devastated when she found out that her dog was missing. "She was my first baby," Smith said. Smith lives in Georgetown with her husband and two young children, but Molly was at Smith's parents house on Nutter Road when the dog wandered off their backyard last Saturday. An employee from Lou's Custom Exhaust found Molly on Saturday and took her to his home in Dracut. Today, he asked a customer if she knew of anyone missing a dog, and the customer said she'd seen a flyer at Walmart. The man who had the dog went over to Walmart, found the flyer and called Smith. "She's a little…

Orsini Looking for More Than a Blind Date

Red-headed Orsini thinks it is his turn to have a home of his own.

February is Cat Appreciation Month, and I have to tell you, I am not feeling appreciated.  Sure, life is good at my fosters’ house.  They are very nice people with friendly pets who I get along with just fine.  I am happy for the love and warmth they have shown toward me, even when I have been shy and hesitant around them.  Now that I have been here for a while, I am much more relaxed.  I sleep on their beds and am happy to watch television with them.  I even like being pet around my head and neck.  We have become BFFs. However, just because I am happy in my foster home does not mean I want to stay here forever.  After all, don’t you think I deserve a forever home of my own?   I don’t know why I haven’t found my match yet.  I am a handsome…
