The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Friday, December 21, through Thursday, December 27. The information is open to the public. Friday, December 21 3:38 a.m.: At Ipswich River Park on Central Street, an officer reported finding a dedicated park bench vandalized. The bench was tipped over inside of the park area located near the small circle closest to the river. 10:53 a.m.: The fire alarm at the high school was reported as going off by the Fire Department. A 14-year-old student was summonsed on charges of pulling a false fire alarm and school disturbance. 2:00 p.m.: A resident walking into the station was upset that the Post Office was not flying the United States flag at half …

Reported Rifle Left at Park and Pair Found Smoking Marijuana With Baby in Car, North Reading

Arrests At 11:53 a.m. Saturday, a caller reported a suspicious male and female on Lakeside Boulevard. The caller said that the pair approached her house and said that they were homeless vets and needed a ride to Lawrence. Another caller said that the pair approached and asked to use her phone. As a result of the call, the female was transported to the Andover line, but the male, Sean E. Burke, 28, of 6 Homestead Terrace was arrested on a warrant.
