Two Arrested for Attempted Break In, North Reading

A Danvers male and Stoneham female were arrested for attempting to break into a home on Marblehead Street.

After receiving a tip from a resident, North Reading police arrested a male and female on Marblehead Street for an attempted break in Thursday.  According to police, around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a resident reported that he saw a suspicious male and female walking behind a neighbor's home. Police responded and saw the male and female matching the description given by the resident. Both subjects attempted to run, police said, before complying with the officers. After an investigation, police were able to determine that the male and female had attempted to break into a home on Marblehead Street and were interrupted when officers arrived, police said. Car Hits Tree in North Reading, Driver Transported to Hospital

The driver was cited for speeding.

Around 8 p.m. last night, a car hit a tree on Turner Drive in North Reading. The driver was cited for speeding and transported to the hospital, according to North Reading Police. The 17-year-old Salisbury male failed to negotiate the turn, police said, and hit a tree. The male was cited for speeding and transported to the hospital by the North Reading Fire Department. His injuries were minor.

Searchers Reunite Missing Child With Her Parents

Young girl with Down Syndrome had been reported missing in the vicinity of Spruce Road.

A North Reading family is breathing a sigh of relief this morning after missing daughter was located safe and sound. The child, an 8-year-old with Down Syndrome, had been reported missing Saturday morning. North Reading Police requested the help of area law enforcement agencies for help with the search, which began in the area of Spruce Road. Of special concern to the family and the searchers was the fact that the girl was reportedly attracted to water and she was barefoot when last seen. No details are available on where the girl was found but she was located around 10:15 a.m. and reunited with her parents, according to BNN-Rescue emergency alert notifications.

NRPD Obtains Summons for Groveland Woman for Felony Embezzlement

A Groveland woman was summonsed on six counts of embezzlement.

North Reading Police have obtained a summons for a 37-year-old Groveland woman. The woman was charged with six counts of felony embezzlement over $250. The charges surround the woman's prior employment at Atlantic Millright in North Reading, police said. According to police, the woman allegedly committed the embezzlements starting in April of this year, totaling funds over $16,000. The Groveland woman will be arraigned at Woburn District Court on Sept. 24. The charges carry a potential of up to a five-year prison sentence and a fine up to $25,000 for each of the six counts, police said.

Arrest Warrant Issued for North Reading Resident

David Sanchez will reportedly be charged with distribution of Heroin.

North Reading Police have obtained an arrest warrant for David Sanchez, 36, of 20 Chestnut St. on the charge of a subsequent offense of distribution of Heroin. The arrest warrant, issued on Friday by the Woburn District Court, was the result of an investigation into the distribution of Heroin within North Reading, police said. In April of this year, Sanchez was arrested in connection with a series of residential break-ins. He was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, receiving stolen property over $250, wanton destruction of property over $250 and attempt to commit a crime (breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony).  This case is still open and Sanchez may see …

Two Prisoners Escaped Holding Facility in North Reading

The prisoners are now back in custody.

Around 7:17 a.m. Monday morning, two prisoners being held before their arraignment escaped from the North Reading Police Department holding facility, police said. The two prisoners, Christian Giangrande, 22, of 29 Pleasant St. North Reading, and Justin Pelletier, 21, of 34 Linwood Ave. North Reading, "were able to take advantage of a breach in the locking mechanism of the holding cell door that allowed them to escape," police said in a recent press release. Around 9 a.m., the two prisoners were located and placed back in custody, according to police. Both Giangrande and Pelletier will face additional charges of escape from a police lock-up. They will be arraigned Monday at Woburn District Court.  Giangrande and Pelletier were originally …

North Reading Woman Summonsed in Connection With Recent Break-In

A North Reading woman is being summonsed for receiving stolen property.

In connection with a recent North Reading break-in, a 25-year-old female resident is being summonsed for receiving stolen property, police said. According to North Reading Police, through their investigation of the break-in on 65 Park Street on July 26, it was determined the this was not in fact a break. The woman had access to the home through a family member, police said. The woman will be summonsed to Woburn Distric Court. Police do not believe that this woman is connected to the other recent break-ins in North Reading.

North Reading CodeRED Alert Sent After String of Break-Ins

The North Reading police sent out a CodeRED alert to residents after several break-ins were reported.

According to North Reading Police, there have been several residential break-ins in town over the past few weeks. Police sent out a CodeRED alert to residents to make them aware of the breaks and are advising them to keep their doors and windows locked and report any suspicious activity. The break-ins have occured during day light hours, when residents are not home, police say. They are urging residents to look for, and report, the following suspicious activity: If you see anything suspicious, report it to the police as soon as possible. It is important for residents to look out for those in their neighborhood, police say, and not to assume that a neighbor has already reported the suspicious activity. Any piece of information helps police …

North Reading Resident Arrested After Crashing Car Into Houses on Park Street

Two houses on Park Street were hit.

After crashing his vehicle into two houses on Park Street in North Reading, Daniel Kaepplinger, 22, of 9 Fieldstone Way, North Reading was arrested for operating under the influence and failure to stay in marked lanes. Several emergency callers reported the accident at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. Kaepplinger was alone in the vehicle as he drove east on Route 62 and crossed over into the west bound lane, according to police. He was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, drove over the sidewalk and hit 140 Park St. The vehicle continued through the side yard and then hit 136 Park St. The front porch and support beams at 140 Park St. were damaged as well as the porch at 136 Park St.  The operator was not injured. Resident Summonsed After Car Accident Friday Night in North Reading

The car crashed into a house and hit the gas line.

As the result of a car accident Friday night, a 51-year-old North Reading male was summonsed for operating under the influence and a marked lanes violation. According to police, the driver crashed his car into a house and hit the gas line. At 10:29 p.m. Friday night, an emergency caller reported that a car crashed into the home at 24 Washington Street. The car hit the gas line in the home, and National Grid responded to shut off the gas, police said. The driver was operating a blue, 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 ST. The home on Washington Street, the blinking yellow light and traffic island at Elm and Orchard Streets were damaged due to the incident.
