Strong third quarters allowed Reading High School Girls' and Boys' Basketball to pull away from Belmont High School at home and away games on Friday, Jan. 11.
Senior all-star Olivia Healy scored 19 points to lead the Rockets to a 57-39 home victory over the Marauders (7-2) which could not handle Reading's full-court press. Siobhan O’Sullivan (11 points) and Junior Sarah Hasse (12 points) helped Healy to keep the Rocket's undefeated this season at 8-0. Yet possibly for the first time in her career, Healy – the two-time Middlesex League MVP who will be playing Div. 1 basketball for the University of Richmond – was not the top scoring Olivia on the court as Belmont's Olivia Lyons put in 22 points along with 13 rebounds. Soon-to-be senior Olivia Healy will take her talents to the University of Richmond to play Division I basketball. Healy led the Rockets to a State title as a junior last year.
Olivia Healy walked through the doors of Reading High school knowing she would make an impact for the Varsity Girls basketball team. That may be an understatement. And now, she has decided to play college ball for the University of Richmond. Healy’s freshman year averaged 14 points while being awarded All-League, Daily Times Chronicle Player of the Year as well as a Middlesex League champion. In her sophomore season, Healy averaged 17 points while being named the Most Valuable Player of the Middlesex League. She was named All-Scholastic for the Boston Globe and Herald and she was named All-League, Daily Times Chronicle Player of the Year for the second time in as many years. The Lady Rockets beat Tyngsboro in Worcester on Saturday.
The Lady Rockets beat Tyngsboro on Saturday and can now call themselves State Champions. Olivia Healy (16 points) and Melisa DalPozzo (13 points) took care of the scoring end in the title game.

The Lady Rockets were escorted into town by a fire engine and police cruiser.
After their big win at the state final Saturday, the Lady Rockets were escorted down Main Street and to the high school by a fire engine and police cruiser. Residents welcomed the team home and congratulated them on their state title. Check out our live blog for details from the game.

The Reading Memorial High School girls basketball team beat the Lady Sailors of Scituate in overtime, 71-74, in one of the most thrilling high school contests ever played at the TD Garden. The Rockets will play in the MIAA Division II State Championship Game Saturday. The Rockets will face either Palmer or Tyngsboro on Saturday at the DCU Center in Worcester. The Reading Memorial High School girls basketball team outlasted the Lady Sailors of Scituate in what has got to be one of the most thrilling high school contests ever played on the parquet floor of TD Garden. The Rockets won in overtime, 71-64.
