Daniel Green, 28, of 5 Washington St. Apt. C9 was arrested on seven charges after allegedly firing a gun Sunday.
According to Reading Police, Daniel Green, 28, of 5 Washington St. Apt. C9 was arrested Sunday on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, improper storage of a firearm, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and unlawful possession of class B and C substances. Police responded to 5 Washington St. Apt. C9 at 12:10 a.m. on Sunday after a caller reported hearing gun shots. According to a recent release, a resident allegedly fired a gun inside the Washington Street apartment. No injuries were reported, police said. Green was arrested at the scene on seven charges and will be arraigned Monday in Woburn District Court.

Sergeant Chris Picco and Sergeant Kevin Brown had their badges pinned Tuesday evening at the Board of Selectmen meeting. The future of the police department looks very bright, Chief James Cormier said Tuesday evening before the badges were pinned on the sergeants. "What a proud moment this is," he said. Picco has been an officer for 17 years and Brown for 12. Picco had his badge pinned by his girlfriend, and Brown had his badge pinned on by his two children. Both had family and friends present. Both sergeants are experienced police officers, well respected, highly educated and have a lot of experience, Cormier said.

On Saturday. April 27 the Reading Police Department and the Reading Coalition Against Substance Abuse participated in the annual Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA.
Halloran is a Reading resident and has been an officer for 12 years.
Reading Detective Michelle Halloran was given the Officer of the Year award for 2012. Halloran was nominated after being an integral part of an attempted rape case last year. Halloran graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Criminal Justice. She joined the police academy in November of 2001 and then became a patrol officer the next year. Halloran wanted to get into police work because it's active, challenging and she wanted to help people, she said. "I liked the whole idea of helping people, getting my hands dirty and doing investigations even before I was a detective," she said. She went back to school and graduated from the Massachusetts School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 2007. She currently lives in Reading, where …

According to Reading Police, 5,369 tickets were issued in 2012. Over 800 of those tickets were issued for a stop sign or red light violation. Over 1,000 of the tickets were issued for speeding violations, 733 were issued due to defective equipment and 190 were issued because of a seat belt violation. Take a look at the various violations that tickets were issued for in Reading last year.

The Reading Police Department made four arrests during two separate incidents during recent days.
Reading Police made multiple arrests in recent days involving drugs and weapons after a pair of what officers called “lengthy investigations.” According to press releases from Reading Police Department, the first arrests came on Tuesday when the Detective Unit combined with members of the Southern Middlesex Drug Task Force to execute a search warrant at an apartment on Lakeview Ave. Upon entering the property, officers found several grams of heroin and a .25 caliber firearm. According to police, the street value of the heroin was more than $1,500. As a result of the investigation, officers arrested Antonio Curiale, 27, of 15 Lakeview Ave., Apt. 2, and charged him with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of a firearm …

I've lived in town for about 5 yrs. Almost everyone I've met here has been very cool. According to Reading Police, 154 people were arrested on 349 different charges in 2012. Of the 154 people, 123 were male and 31 were female, police said. 74 people were arrested on warrants, 16 on conspiracy charges, 19 for operating a vehicle without being licensed, 18 for assault and battery and four for the possession of a class E substance.
