There may be some scattered snow banks still refusing to melt, but spring is officially here. And with that, spring sports season is in full swing with a busy slate of games on the docket this week. Plenty of Reading teams are playoff bound, but the majority will have to wait until next week to play again with a slow week scheduled for the upcoming days.

The regular season wraps up with a slow week of Reading sports before the postseason gets into full swing next week. On Monday, the girls basketball team looks for another Comcast IAABO Board 27 Classic title. The Lady Rockets thumped Natick, 64-40, behind 30 points from standout Olivia Healy. As a result, Reading will play at 2:30 p.m. on the hardwood of Babson College in their final tune up before the playoffs tip off. A handful of Rocket teams are in the playoff picture, hoping to improve their chances in the final two weeks of the regular season.
It's been a stellar winter season for Reading teams, and several Rocket squads are hoping to improve their playoff prospects with just two weeks remaining in the regular season. The girls gymnastics team is the first Reading team in action this week, traveling to Arlington at 6 p.m. on Monday. On Tuesday, it's the basketball teams that take their turn versus Arlington. The unbeaten juggernaut girls basketball team hosts Arlington in a 5:30 p.m. tilt while the boys team hopes to improve its playoff chances at 7 p.m. against the same foe. The Rockets boys team is currently in second place, which would be good for a playoff spot. However, Winchester and Arlington are right behind the locals in the standings.
