Town Common Flagpole Clears Hurdle
The Historic District Commission gave the OK for a 90-foot flagpole on the Town Common.
A new 90-foot flagpole moved a step closer to being erected on the Town Common after the Historic District Commission recently approved the plan, the North Reading Transcript reported on Thursday. The pole will replace the 85-year-old flagpole that fell in June. The HDC also approved a 10-foot auxiliary pole that will light the flag at night, according to the Transcript. The Scrivano Group, which owns the two Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street, will pay for more than $23,000 of the pole and installation, with the town possibly picking up a couple of thousand dollars.
