NRHS Basketball On a Winning Streak

The boys' varsity basketball team is 13-0 this season.

The North Reading High School boys' basketball team is on a winning streak with a 13-0 record this season, much different to last season's 7-13. Last year, the team saw multiple injuries according to BostonGlobe.com. This year, they have several secret weapons. They started to play together in summer leagues, and a few of their team members have been playing together since fifth grade, coach Joseph Casey said in the article. The team is more committed to defense and averages 59.4 points per game, according to the article. There are nine seniors on the team, leading by example. Girls Basketball Play in State Playoffs Wednesday

The girls varsity basketball team will play in the first round against St. Mary's.

The girls varsity basketball team will play in the Division 3 state playoffs on Wednesday. North Reading will play St. Mary's in Lynn at 7 p.m. The Hornets, with a record of 10-10 this season, are seeded ninth. They will play an away game against eighth-seeded St. Mary's with a record of 12-10. If they win the first game, the Hornets will play at Bedford.
