The Hornet's Nest Sub Shop celebrated it's 40th anniversary in North Reading Monday.
The Hornet's Nest Sub Shop has been a staple to the town of North Reading for the last 40 years. Famous for it's cheese-steaks, pizza, subs and sandwiches, the Hornet's Nest celebrated their 40th anniversary Monday. Couple David and Laura Salvo have owned the Hornet's Nest for the last eight years. Prior to that, Joe Gallagher and his wife Linda owned the eatery for 32 years. When asked how they ended up with the shop, Laura Salvo said, "I think it was fate." She was always a fan of the sub shop, having grown up in North Reading. Laura and David Salvo had always been in the food business, she said. The couple owned another sub shop in Danvers, the one they sold to buy the nest. They had always wanted to own the Hornet's Nest, and called …

Lindsay Felix grew up in North Reading and still lives in town with her husband and three children. For the last 10 years, she has been making cupcakes from scratch for the community free of charge. After an overwhelming amount of orders, Felix decided to start her own cupcake business online this past May and now is ready to open a store. Mrs. Felix’s Cupcakes will open in town this summer. Felix is still unsure of the date, but hopes it will happen by the end of July. All of her cupcakes, that she refers to as "simple and delicious," are homemade from scratch without preservatives or any traces of peanuts. Welcome to You Ask... Patch Answers where we answer readers questions. We recently received questions about the vacant lot on Park Street that was once North Reading Service. Patch readers want to know if the building was sold. Here's your answer. North Reading Service, formerly Lew's Mobil, on Park Street was opened by Lew Vorrilas 47 years ago, and stayed open until last Spring. The building finally has a buyer. According to Century 21 Spindler and O'Neil, they have the listing on the property at 160 Park St. and they have signed a purchase and sale agreement with the buyer, making the property under agreement. They declined to comment on the buyer for confidentiality reasons. They don't ever comment on the parties for a transaction …

Ten and Under, a used children's clothing store, will open in June.
Need an inexpensive place to shop for your kids, that will also keep them entertained? Try out the new Ten and Under store on Main Street when it opens next month. Ten and Under is a used children's clothing store that is located in the old Curve's space on Main Street. Started by sisters Brandy Previti and Brooke Bayko, the store will stock used children's clothing, shoes, toys, outerwear and some maternity clothes for $10 and under. They plan to open the store on June 1, Previti said. "We are mostly doing donations," Previti said. "That's how we keep the prices at $10 or less." Owner Al Pereira opened the store in March of 1992 and recently celebrated 20 years in North Reading. Pereira is the main photographer and will take photos in the studio at the Main Street store or come to you, whether it is a wedding, corporate or sporting event.
