North Reading CodeRED Alert Sent After String of Break-Ins

The North Reading police sent out a CodeRED alert to residents after several break-ins were reported.

According to North Reading Police, there have been several residential break-ins in town over the past few weeks. Police sent out a CodeRED alert to residents to make them aware of the breaks and are advising them to keep their doors and windows locked and report any suspicious activity. The break-ins have occured during day light hours, when residents are not home, police say. They are urging residents to look for, and report, the following suspicious activity: If you see anything suspicious, report it to the police as soon as possible. It is important for residents to look out for those in their neighborhood, police say, and not to assume that a neighbor has already reported the suspicious activity. Any piece of information helps police …

The CodeRED test call will take place July 9.

The following was submitted by the North Reading Police Department: North Reading Police will be conducting a CodeRed test call during the week of July 9, 2012. Over 200 citizens have updated their information since the press release was issued.   About CodeRed high-speed notification solution: The CodeRED system provides North Reading Town officials the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire Town of North Reading. The CodeRED system will be used for critical incidents and events where the timely notification of an affected population or geographic area of the Town of North Reading is essential or highly desirable.
