Deadline to Register to Vote Saturday

If you want to vote at the Special Town Election for the school building project, register by Saturday.

If you're not registered to vote but want to cast your vote for or against the school building project, you need to register to vote on or before Saturday at Town Hall. Bring a license or another form of identification to Town Hall to register. Town Hall will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. "Once people are registered to vote, they don't need to re-register for each event, but they do need to respond to the census to stay on the active voting list," said Town Clerk Barbara Stats. There will be a Special Town Meeting on March 19 at 7 p.m. at the high school. This will require two-thirds majority to pass. There will be onsite child care available. Election Papers Out Today

Election papers for the May 8 election are due by March 20.

Have you thought about running for a spot on the Board of Selectmen? School Committee? Community Planning Commission? Stop by Town Hall to pick up election papers. According to Town Clerk Barbara Stats, the papers will be available starting today and are due by 5 p.m. on March 20. The election is Tuesday, May 8. Candidates are required to receive signatures from 50 registered voters to qualify. There will be two spots open on the Board of Selectmen, two on the School Committee, two on the Community Planning Commission and one on the Housing Authority.
