Good idea. How about having them all work 8 hour shifts. Why do we have to pay for our Firefighters to sleep on the job? Make them all work rotating 8 hour shifts where they all put in a full weeks worth of work. None of this two full days on and five off to do side jobs as plumbers and electricians and carpenters.and underbid REAL workers. Make them work for their money. No sleeping on the job. No more "Boys Club" hangout fire stations where nobody works for OUR money. These people get paid very well for what little they do. There is plenty of work to do at all hours in this town. We need to be getting moure value for out tax dollars. Every year they will ask for more more more and we will get less less less. They always use the closing of a station to pull at our heartstrings. Don't fall for it. Let them manage with what they got. They need to prove they are worth more and change the pay structure to one that is more in line with REALITY! How about salary caps and normal work shifts that require firefighters to work 5 days a week. Learn to do the same or more with less! Just like all the rest of us REAL workers!

ReplyHow about each fire fighter works a normal 8 hour shift and put in a normal 40 hour work week like everyone else. No more two 24 hour shifts with paid sleep time and overtime. When your on the clock your working, not sleeping!. If the police can do it so can the Firefighters. I don't mind paying for someone to work overtime but I want them working for it, not sleeping so they can be fully rested for their side jobs as plumber's, electricians and carpenter's
Wake up Tewksbury. It's time we tightend our belts and make sure our money is being spent for actual services. -

ReplyIt's pretty sad when you have the majority of the top 50 earners being local cops that are pulling in upwards of 150K a year. Time to put salary caps on these jobs. You could cut these salries in half and they would still be getting a high paying salary at 70K. There is no shortage of people who would take these cop jobs for 60-70K. The city could double the amount of cops on the streets just by doing this or start saving some money for the city rather than spending wastefully.

ReplyPeople need to slow down on this road. It is a 30 mph road. Every time I drive it I keep it at 30 and laugh at the upset drivers behind me who want to break the law and put lives in jeopardy by speeding. Remember people there is a reason behind speed limits. Be safe and slow down. Let's all get there alive!.

ReplyHow about having the town employees pay more for their health insurance and no 2% pay increases. We employees in the private sector pay more each year for our health insurance. We don't get pay increases just for being employed. Why does this town continue down the same path each and every year? It's time to change your wasteful spending Tewksbury. It's time the town employees suffered a little in their wallets. Town services shouldn't be cut. Town employee pensions and health benefits should!

ReplyWasn't that bad. My two wheel drive vehicle made it just fine this morning. Kinda nice to see some snow actually. We've still yet to get some REAL snow this year. There are always accidents on South and Bridge streets despite the conditions. Enjoy it people, Life is good!
