Scott: I found your name while searching for info on the Swan Pond Improvement Association, I hope I've found the right person!
My wife and I are looking to purchase a property on the pond; in fact we are schedule to close in less than a week.
The sellers seem to think that they own right up to the water, with an easement granted to Danvers. Our own research shows Danvers having taken ownership of the pond and an ~80 foot buffer back in the late 19th century. The town of Danvers seems to hold this 130 year old taking as the current and accurate representation of their ownership.
I'm hoping you might be able to help point us in the right direction as we seek to clarify this whole mess. The property is on the south-westerly shore of the pond. Are you aware of any easements, takings, etc along the pond shore? I'm hoping you might live along the same area and be directly aware of Danvers' rights to the pond.
Thanks,
-Jared (jared.eldredge@gmail.com)
