ReplyI agree with you on almost all points, Craig. I'd like to see Akin stay in the race, since it would give Dems an edge in winning a critical legislative seat. I also think it's important for people to know that, however Ryan might want to distance himself from Akin now, he's been in lockstep with him on women's health issues in the past -- which is to say that he has shown zero empathy for women and a questionable understanding of basic health issues. I have to defend Brown on this point, though: The article you mention fails to distinguish between Brown and his PAC. It was the PAC that donated money to congressmen who supported the abortion act in question, not Brown himself. And if this recent election cycle has shown us anything, it's that the candidates have little control over their PACs. Brown, himself, has repeatedly rebuked Akin. So, while I am a Warren supporter, I have to give Brown a "pass" on this one.

To be fair to Melrosians, I think residents give/volunteer an incredible amount of time to their community -- more than I've seen elsewhere -- and service is heavily stressed in the public schools. I don't think you get a fair representation of our community if you only look at the monetary data.
