Resident Arrested on Robbery Charges

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the Reading Police Department from Monday through Thursday. The information is open to the public.

Arrests

At 5:03 p.m. Monday, Justin Boutin, 28, of 30 Haven St. was arrested on charges of unarmed robbery of a victim over 60, assault and battery on a person over 60, larceny from a person over 60 and vandalizing property.

At 10:07 a.m. Wednesday, as the result of a motor vehicle stop on Salem Street, Marcondes Barbosa, 34, of 46 Court St., Newton was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle after license suspended, failure to stop for safety, and on two warrants.

On Thursday, Ricardo Antunes DeSouza, 21, of 94 R. Spring St., Medford was arrested on charges of using a motor vehicle to commit a felony and two counts of receiving stolen property over $250.

Monday, July 22

  • At 7:36 a.m., a caller reported a car accident on Henzie Street. No injuries were reported.
  • At 1:44 p.m., an employee from McDonald’s reported that the nightly bank deposit was stolen the Tuesday before.
  • At 5:11 p.m., a caller reported two license plates stolen.
  • At 10:36 p.m., a caller reported someone knocking over mailboxes on Van Norden Road.

Tuesday, July 23

  • At   3:35 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Salem Street. No injuries were reported.
  • At 7:11 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Lowell Street. The injuries were unknown.

Wednesday, July 24

  • At 7:01 a.m., a caller reported a car accident on Willow Street. No injuries were reported.
  • At 7:06 a.m., a Lewis Street resident reported that her vehicle was stolen from her driveway.
  • At 6:47 p.m., a Chestnut Road resident reported that her home was broken into earlier in the day.
  • At 7:10 p.m., a caller reported that her phone was stolen while she was shopping at Stop and Shop.
  • At 10:04 p.m., a caller reported that a car struck a pedestrian on Main Street.
  • At 10:14 p.m., a caller reported a half naked female on Salem Street. The female was held in protective custody.

Thursday, July 25

  • At 6:04 a.m., a John Street resident reported that his vehicle was broken into overnight and items were taken.
  • At 9:30 a.m., a Belmont Street resident reported that her vehicle was stolen overnight.
  • At 4:16 p.m., a Mill Street resident reported a break in. The suspect forced entry through the back door.
  • At 5:55 p.m., a Pleasant Street resident reported that his car was broken into and a GPS was taken.
  • At 7:06 p.m., a Salem Street resident reported that her car was broken into overnight. A Belmont Street resident also reported that his car was broken into and items were taken.
