Flags were at half staff yesterday because Governor Deval Patrick ordered American and Commonwealth Flags lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.
According to Patrick, the order applies to town and city halls, other state-owned or state-controlled buildings and all state military installations.
